Welcome to Paradise

The beautiful beaches of Nha Trang (Candace)

We jumped on a bus from Mui Ne to Nha Trang a couple of days ago, and were so glad we did. While our resort in Mui Ne was super peaceful and beautiful, the beach was just meh. The water was too murky for me (I’m scared to death of sting ray since I was stung in Newport Beach last Spring), and we kept getting bitten by no see em’s in the sand. And outside of our resort, the town was pretty empty and a little sad. So we were ready for a change of pace.

And a change of pace we found. Nha Trang is a coastal resort city in southern Vietnam known for its beaches, diving sites and offshore islands. Its main beach is a long, curving stretch along Tran Phu Street backed by a promenade, hotels and seafood restaurants. Aerial cable cars cross over to Hòn Tre Island, and the nature reserves of Hòn Mun and Hòn Tằm islands, reachable by boat, have coral reefs.

We arrived at 6pm on Friday night, and the town was bumping. Tiger beer was hosting a music festival on the promenade (which, strangely, sold zero beers during the entire event), and bars and restaurants lined the beach. This town parties until early morning, even though Andrew and I tend to be in bed by 10.

We then spent the day at the beach yesterday, in our own little cabana, and decided to have Sunday funday by visiting the local beach restaurants that each host their own swimming pools. Not a bad town for a weekend reprieve!

We are off to the town of DaLat today, which should be smaller, more inland, and offer more outdoor activities, and then we’ll be back in Ho Chi Minh City to do some war tours. Vietnam, we are pleasantly surprised.
