A thought or two from one or both of us.

Santiago, Chile I have to admit that I’ve been having a rough week. I so needed and enjoyed my independent adventure in Peru, but just after finishing my trek to Machu Picchu, I learned that, for the 17th month in a row, I’m not pregnant. This isn’t something that I have shared on our blog...

Machu Picchu, Peru Even though we took the horses to the pass on Day 2, I trekked a 1,300 meter descent to reach Ollantaytambo (coolest town ever) and took a train the the foot of Machu Picchu. I then trekked, by myself, for nearly two and a half hours to reach WinaWayna (magical city built...
I was so excited to start my independent adventure on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu when I woke up yesterday. I had purchased all of my warm-weather clothes and extra toilet paper, and I was ready to take on the world. We got a bit of a slow start, sitting in a van for three hours and then...
Cusco, Peru Hello, my little ones. I’m writing to you today even though you haven’t been born yet. Your daddy and I are trying so hard to bring you into the world right now, and can’t wait to hold you in our arms. We have been tying to conceive you for more than a year now, and life has been...
I’m completely exhausted after two days of non-stop dancing and my bathtub is caked in dirt. I have to dry clean just about every piece of bedding that I own, and have lost one or more pieces of all of my favorite costumes. This is evidence of a perfect weekend. Those of you who know me well...

    June 25-29, 2016

With the recent shooting in Orlando, Andrew and I decided to combine our fun-filled honeymoon with a weekend of love and solidarity by celebrating PRIDE in Lisbon, Portugal.  Plus, after being one with nature for 35 days, we need to let our hair down and get weird!

WWOOF-ing in La Grange D'Oustaud, Bordeaux, France

    July 1- July 15, 2016

Andrew worked two years ago on a horse farm in Bordeaux, and we intend to go back to see the family he stayed with and get our hands dirty. There is usually is a wonderful fireworks show at Château la Riviere the first Friday in July, so we'll begin our stay with an evening barbecue at the family vineyard which is just nearby and then watch the fireworks!

    Vieilles Charrues 2016

    Carhaix, France

    July 14-17, 2016

The Vieilles Charrues, or Old Ploughs Festival, is the largest music festival in France, attracting more than 200,000 festival-goers every year. This festival was created in 1992 in Finistère as a private party for 500 Camino pilgrims. The following year, the festival welcomed more than 2000 and that was the beginning of its success story.  Andrew and I will be going to hear Disclosure on stage.  So fitting!

Drinking champagne in Champagne, Bordeaux and Paris, France

    July 18 - 25, 2016

Andrew suggested that, after working hard on the farm for a couple of weeks, we should go relax and, dare we say it, consume bubbles in none other but bubble country! So we'll start with a weekend in Bordeaux, followed by 3-4 days in the Champagne region, and we'll end with a weekend in Paris! Oui! Oui!

    Couch Surfing

    Abu Dhabi, the UAE

    July 25-27, 2016

We met the coolest woman, Beth, at the US Embassy in Florence, and she invited us to couch surf with her and her husband, Gordon, in Abu Dhabi. Since we agreed to say "yes" to every opportunity, we took her up on her offer!

We then have scheduled a 6-day cleanse and yoga meditation retreat in Pokhara at the Sadhana Meditation School. Come join us! Ohm...

    Simple Living in Singaraja, Bali

    September 15 - October 17, 2016

We've rented a two-bedroom house, complete with outdoor shower and private swimming pool, on the northern coast of Bali. It will be nice to have a month of stable living, and we have an extra bedroom for you! And this just in - Andrew's mom, Jane, will be joining us the second week of October!

    Pilipino Pood in Boracay, Philippines

    October 17-October 25, 2016

We haven't been able to get enough of the islands, so we decided to add one more to our list before we finish. Candace's old roommate, Jeff, is from the Philippines, so we are stopping by to say hello to his grandma's birthplace on our tour!

A Day or So in Tokyo, Japan

    October 25-October 29, 2016

After some bad luck with the Australian Embassy and Jetstar and AirAsia (causing us to miss our flight to New Zealand), we even surprised ourselves by staying a few days in Tokyo! Rickshaws and public baths, baby!

One Final Rest Stop in Hawaii

    October 29-November 7, 2016

We want to be home in time to cast our presidential vote, so we decided to end our world tour by taking the trip full circle and ending in one of Candace's favorite spots, Oahu! Candace's mom and dad were kind enough to cover hotels for the stay, so it's just R&R to end this crazy adventure!
